New Delhi, Aug 05 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir has pending wage liabilities of Rs 13.12 crore under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) as of July 30, 2025, the Ministry of Rural Development informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan, in a written reply, said the pending amount pertains to the current financial year and that 100% of wage liabilities from 2024–25 have already been cleared. “Wage payments are credited directly to workers’ bank accounts through the Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system,” he said. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Paswan clarified that job cards under MGNREGS are not deleted due to Aadhaar-bank account linking failures. However, he said the ministry issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in January 2025 to guide states and Union Territories on deleting or restoring job cards. The SOP requires Gram Sabha verification, public display of draft deletion lists, a grievance redressal mechanism and settlement of pending dues before any cancellation. The Minister added that PMGSY fund releases are a continuous process, with daily sanctions issued through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) after due process. He said the government remains committed to ensuring timely wage payments and addressing any delays reported by states or other stakeholders—(KNO)
